Numerical prediction of the ballistic performance of hygrothermally aged CFRP laminates using a multi-scale modelling approach

چکیده
A multi-scale modelling strategy is proposed to investigate the potential effects of hygrothermal ageing on ballistic performance CFRP laminates. At micro-scale, damage evolution due cyclic loads simulated a representative microstructure using an adapted fatigue law. Then, results micro-mechanical analysis are used measure predicted transverse crack density and calibrate meso-scale material model with micro-scale damage. Finally, impact generated seeded cracks at calibrated properties from homogenisation step, which allows for laminate be compared different stages
